It's not just the seasons that affect the population of each creature.

Be a biologist  and make some changes on your own!

Most of the wetland wildlife is hibernating or has migrated to a warmer climate. Frogs and dragonfly nymphs remain, asleep under the ice. Mudminnows and voles, however, are still active in cold temperatures. Aquatic plants like water lilies and marsh marigolds are dead, but still provide food and shelter.

At this point the marsh is just waking up. Some of the wildlife has just returned from migration, and since the food supply is only adequate there have been no young born or hatched yet.

In summer, food is plentiful, which means herbivores and insectivores prosper and reproduce, which in turn means that carnivores prosper as well. Population numbers go up as young are born or hatched.

In the fall, some animals go into hibernation; others die in the oncoming cold temperatures.
